Navigating uncertainty with the government shutdown

@MB @julianne.lee @mandy.sandquist I just read this bit regarding how to navigate E-Verify not being available in the knowledge article that Rob linked to and thought it’d be helpful to highlight: Employers must continue to properly verify the Form I-9. Once the system is available, organizations enrolled in E-Verify should timely create cases and monitor any guidance provided from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) during that time on requirements and impact.

So far, we have not been affected by the shutdown and I hope the govt will “re-open” before we face any challenges!

We have lost contracts because of the shut down because they were part government / part private sector. The company is trying to find alternate plans.

We haven’t been impacted yet by the shutdown.

Thank you for sharing this!

This will impact us, but the effects are still being determined at this time.

We work with the government almost exclusively so we operate on the old adage of savings… we know there will be ebs and flows so we save and conserve and pinch every penny for when times like this come we are prepared.

I too have issues with E-Verify currently. Will we get intstructions on how to handle this in the near future?

We have not been affected but reading through the answers, I am so glad TriNet is here to help and I hope we don’t have a new hire since E-Verify is affected. These are challenging times!

Our business isn’t directly impacted but several of our clients might be if they are in a government related field.

Our company hasn’t been impacted directly by the government shutdown, but we do have some government clients so there may be an indirect impact on us later.

We have a federal grant through the IMLS and are complying with their reporting deadlines even though there is no one at the agency to review our reports

We are a subcontractor. Occasionally we have government contracts. This is good information to have on hand should one come up during the shutdown. Thanks for passing this information to us.

Luckily CBP is still open for us to continue our work without interruptions.

I also am not sure about E-Verify because I have a new hire starting next week.

This is a great resource. We deal with clinical trials so we are definitely monitoring how the shutdown, and cuts in general, are impacting our customers.

No effect so far, hoping DC finds a way to play better together in the sandbox.

Good comments about E-verify. I had not come across that yet but will soon.

We have paused any new hires for our govt client until this is over.

We don’t have a lot of government work so we’re not directly impacted but clients are conserving cash and hesitating on renewals
